I really don't know how I feel about this.  I mean, I understand that our government is watching out for us, but, yet, I get that weird, uneasy feeling deep in the pit of my stomach.  I feel that any moment now we might be just a few steps away from a police state.  I wish people would become more aware and involved in what our government is doing, instead of just sitting there like bumps on the log.  We don't realize the power of ourselves, we'd just rather sit there and let the chips fall where they may, and it is truly disheartening.

"It was curious to think that the sky was the same for everybody, in Eurasia or Eastasia as well as here. And the people under the sky were also very much the same—everywhere, all over the world, hundreds or thousands of millions of people just like this, people ignorant of one another's existence, held apart by walls of hatred and lies, and yet almost exactly the same—people who had never learned to think but were storing up in their hearts and bellies and muscles the power that would one day overturn the world."

- George Orwell, 1984, Book 1, Chapter 10

Are you fuckin' kidding me? My initial reaction was along the lines of "A suicide bomber isn't going to care if you get his picture on camera before he blows himself up. And when do we ever have suicide bombers in the U.S. (never? thought so)."

$90 million?!?!?! Seriously with $90 million they could do several things to actually help alleviate poverty, which is the real cause of crime. Pay for advanced schooling, pay teachers adequate wages, build better housing, develop mentoring programs, create jobs - all in those "high crime" areas.

Check out the book, "The Transparent Society" by David Brin. Realllllly cool stuff about all of this brouhaha. A real thinkin' kind of book. Kinda goes along with my eccentric libertarian beliefs. XOXO ~ Resa
